Superhero capes

Over the last 2 weeks the children have been designing their own superhero capes. The children had to think of a design and add it to their design sheet where they had to select colours and patterns. The children then used their design sheets to make their cape to match their design. The children had to mix colours to get their desired colour, they had to cut out shapes for their pattern and had to be very patient at each stage when, for exmaple, the base coat layer of paint needed to dry before the next stage could be added. The children have really enjoyed making their capes and afterwards they wrote a piece a writing describing their cape. The children are now becoming really independent at sounding out words for themselves, using the red words on the wall to spell the red words correctly e.g. My, the and was. Children are being encouraged to use their finger spaces without prompts and to add a full stop at the end of their sentence. We are now working on what the capital letters look like for each letter too!

Don’t you think our capes look SUPER!
