Welcome back!

A Happy New Year to all of our children and their families. We really hope you enjoyed the break and managed to have some quality family time over the holidays full of fun and festivities. I can’t wait to hear all about the exciting things that you have been doing over the break.

Tomorrow we start a brand new topic called ‘It’s a toy story!’ Please make sure you have checked your emails for the parent mail which was sent out (check your junk mail if you haven’t received it yet).

Things to remember

Please send your child with one of their favourite toys to school tomorrow (in a named bag). We will be having a show and tell afternoon tomorrow with all the different toys that are brought in. We will be looking at what the toys can do and will be talking to the class about why it is their favourite toy. These toys will then be kept in the office during the week except for when your child needs it in their adult focused activities so that they are kept safe. The toys will then be sent home on Friday.

PE will be starting in Week 2, please make sure your child has their PE kit in school for then (white shirt, red shorts or grey/black tracksuit bottoms and suitable footwear).

Learning logs: this week a new learning log grid will be stuck in your child’s learning log for this half term. It is the same format as last half-term. Please pick just one box per week. If the parent/ carer can add the title and date to the work as well that is really helpful when we come to mark it.

Reading books: just a reminder that red readers’ books are changed on a Monday and Wednesday and blue readers are changed on a Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure you have added your parent comment to their reading record so that we know that your child has read their book at home.

Mathletics/reading eggs: usernames and passwords are on the back of your child’s reading record. These are fantastic sites and well worth using often to supplement learning in school and at home.

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow at 8.40am!

Miss Mason
